Bristol Manor Farm Under 18s 3 Yate Town Under 18s 2
FA Youth Cup
After the worst start you can have, going a goal down in the first minute, Yate Town Under 18s young side regained their composure and played out of their skins for the following 89 minutes of this thrilling FA Youth Cup fixture.
A long ball forward by Manor Farm within the first minute of the game caught out the Yate defence and the home side took the lead but the visitors responded immediately by putting Manor Farm under pressure and their efforts were rewarded, when a ball was played up to Tyler Wood who kept his composure and slotted the ball neatly home to equalise.
Although Yate Town played some good football from the back right through to the front they were caught out twice, with long balls played up to the 3 Manor Farm forwards, who were a constant thorn for the visitors defence with their pace and strength.
The first, an unfortunate own goal and the second goal came when Yate lost the ball just outside their own box and with only our goalkeeper Billy Pullin to beat the Manor Farm slotted the ball home with conviction.
During the second half the Yate Town team never stopped battling and some of the football being played was superb. Yate dominated play and Yate hit the crossbar and created a handful of chances but could not find a goal so went to 3 at the back to try and push on the extra man to get the goals needed and it nearly paid off.
Yate started to win a few free kicks and corners and from a set piece the ball was played in the box where centre back, Jack Taylor, popped up and headed a second goal for Yate but with only five minutes remaining they couldn’t secure an equaliser
