Match Report: Ashton 2-0 Yate Town U18’s Blue

Yate Town U18 Blue’s title ambitions suffered a blow as they were beaten 2-0 at Ashton on Sunday afternoon.

The Bluebells made a bright start and almost took the lead through Pete Roberts, whose shot was high and wide, and Freddie Everson, whose effort was well-saved buy the hone goalkeeper, and they paid the price with the home number 9 twisted and turned past a couple of challenges and fired in off the post with 25 minutes played.

Yate really struggled to get their passing game going in midfield, on a bobbly surface and went in behind at the break.

There was some improvement in the Yate performance after half-time, but they still had goalkeeper Kalel Caswell to thank for keeping the match alive with two huge saves, while Everson and Roberts had further chances and Cyprian Klawitter could only shoot at the goalkeeper when put through, but Ashton put the game to bed with a second from just inside the box.

Yate Town U18 Blue will hope to get their challenge back on track as they host neighbours Frampton Rangers next Sunday.
