Yate Town White 1 Warmley Rangers
Hodges 77
Bristol Combination League Division 3
Sunday 20th October 2024
Yate Town U18 White slipped to a third consecutive defeat as they lost 3-1 at home to Warmley Rangers in Division 3 of the Bristol Combination League on Sunday.
The young Bluebells couldn’t have got off to a worse start, conceding with just three minutes gone. A ball was allowed to travel too far into the box without being cleared and the visiting forward was on-hand do finish smartly at the back post.
Yate were struggling to get a foothold in the game, and switched to a 3-5-2 formation in an attempt to occupy the visiting defenders, but while the performance did improve, they still didn’t carve out many chances, and were undone when Warmley caught them on the break, their forward lifting the ball over Joe Tibbert to double his side’s advantage.
Yate came out after half-time with a bit more energy, but had the stuffing knocked out of them when the visitors added a third, and they also had to be grateful to Man of the Match Joe Tibbert in goal, who kept them in it with two outstanding saves.
The Bluebells did manage a goal with 13 minutes left. Archie Morrison’s free-kick into the area found its way to Dom Hodges, and the substitute planted a header into the bottom corner. But it proved to be no more than a consolation on a day that Yate will want to forget.
Yate Town U18 White now have two Sundays off before they attempt to get back to winning ways with a trip to Portishead Town.
