Yate Town U18’s White 1-3 Swiss Valley Rangers

Yate Town U18 White endured a bad day at the office as they fell to a 3-1 home defeat to high-flying Swiss Valley Rangers.

The young Bluebells were very slow to get going, really struggling to get a foothold in the game, and saw Swiss Valley take advantage of that in the 23rd minute. Matt Crossley in goal made a decent save from a strike from distance, but none of the home defenders followed the shot back, and the visiting forward was left in acres of space to finish the rebound.

Yate took advantage of the rolling subs allowed in this competition and threw on winger Freddie Tizzard, returning after injury, and striker Ethan Matthews, and they were rewarded almost instantly as the pair combined to drag their side level. Tizzard refused to give up on a ball on the right and, as the home defender attempted to shepherd the ball out for a goal-kick, he nicked the ball and squared for Matthews to finish smartly first-time.

The hosts improved vastly for the remainder of the half, and were very much in the ascendency, and going into the break it looked as though there was only one team that would go on to win it.

But the strong second-half failed to materialise, and the visitors took advantage with a couple of second-half goals to earn a deserved win, in what has to go down as a disappointing performance. Freddie Tizzard tried his best to make things happen and earns the Man of the Match performance for his efforts.

Yate Town U18 White will hope to return to form as they visit Warmley Rangers next Sunday.
